2021 APO Science Symposium - held virtually on July 26-28, 2021
The APO Science Symposium highlights scientific and/or educational results from the ARC 3.5m and/or ARCSAT telescopes.
We will host three 30-minute virtual Poster Sessions (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 12:30-13:00 MDT) in addition to two social/topical gatherings (Monday and Tuesday from 14:00-15:00 MDT). These events will be hosted using Gather.Town, a virtual environment that runs in your web browser with a 90’s video game feel. The link to join this virtual meeting space will be circulated to registered attendees. Gather.Town allows attendees to walk around a virtual meeting space, play games, and video chat with those nearby. Numerous virtual conferences have used it and we think it provides a fun way of capturing that “bumping into colleagues” aspect of conferences that is lacking in Zoom sessions.
All poster presenters will be assigned a designated location in the poster area of the Gather.Town meeting space. During the Poster Sessions please stand by or near your poster - just like you would at a normal conference - so that other meeting attendees can drop by and get an overview from you. As a reminder, poster presenters are also strongly encouraged to record a 3-5 minute video overview of their posters and upload it to this Google Drive directory. This will enable us to upload it to the Youtube channel for this meeting so that participants can view the posters asynchronously.
This page will be populated with submitted posters as they are curated and accepted by the SOC.
