Sam Schonfeld: About me

Headshot

I am a research solar physicist with experience studying the solar corona, solar irradiance, and solar flares. Currently I study coronal heating with Dr. Jim Klimchuk as a NASA Postdoctoral Program Fellow at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

I received my PhD from the Astronomy department at New Mexico State university in December 2017. My dissertation, Identifying the sources and variability of solar F10.7 with differential emission measures, was performed under the guidance of my academic adviser Dr. James McAteer and with my primary research adviser Dr. Stephen White at the Air Force Research Laboratory. I also benefitted from collaborations with Dr. Rachel Hock-Mysliwiec and Dr. Carl Henney at the Air Force Research Laboratory and Dr. Nick Arge at NASA.
