The Future of ARCSAT Working Group was established in March 2025 with the goal of examining the use of the 0.5m ARCSAT telescope at APO. The FAWG was chaired by Denise Stephens of Brigham Young University and had the following charge:
- identify scientific and educational use cases for the 0.5 m that are of interest to ARC members - current and/or future
- examine current 0.5m capabilities (telescope, instrumentation, scheduling) vs. needs/desires of the ARC user community
- examine a wide range of options for the future of ARCSAT
- produce a white paper that summarizes the above and provides recommendations for any needed improvements or changes to the ARCSAT observing infrastructure
The final report of the FAWG is here: fawg_report_appendixa.pdf
