105/110 TA's: To solve this coming week's solar lab crisis, I have put together TWO NEW notebooks of Sun lab materials. Note that I could only find some of the images used in this lab, so there are some changes you should note: Stations #1 and #6: While I found the correct SOHO images on the web for #1, the printers were not cooperating, so I simply made gobs of photocopies for this station (and for station #6). Thus, there are plenty of handouts to go around in both notebooks (try to make sure the students do not write on these photocopies!). Station #2: The two images for this station would not photocopy well enough to see anything (the originals stunk anyway), so I found the correct images and have printed out a couple of sets of each. There are only a few of these in each notebook. Note that the new ones are not side-by-side, but back-to-back, since the original was a composite of two images. Station #3: Found the original, and printed out several copies of this coronal image. Station #4: This station refers to a poster in the classroom--there is no need for any images, as you simply do a scale calculation. I stuck a couple of interesting color pages in this section for kicks. Station #5: This is where the biggest change has occurred: I could not find the correct composite prominence series used in the original. I found a different one, but the new one is not whole disk---SO WHEN THEY GO TO MEASURE THE DIAMETER, THEY INSTEAD HAVE TO MEASURE THE RADIUS (assume that the image shows one full quadrant of the Sun). ***The two notebooks have different Station #5's!***
