With the purchase of the PST solar telescopes, the Sun lab was changed to incorporate these. Since I was revising this lab, I decided to introduce a section on magnetism, so most of the exercise parts of the lab have changed. I added a new Station 1 that just has them look at a few images of the Sun to get familiar with it before launching into anything specific. Old Station 1 has been incorporated into Station 2. Station 4 has been discarded since it had something to do with a classroom poster that may or may not exist in coming years, and is useless for distance learning. Stations 5 and 6 have moved up to 4 and 5. The old Questions section has been incorporated into the Summary to free-up the points for the new magnetism and observing sections. The other points coming from Exercise 1. Now, I have added a whole new section dealing with magnetism, using bar magnets with iron filings and some compasses. An observing section has been added for use with daytime labs. Since that will not be feasible all of the time, a section on electromagnetism acts as a filler. We need to encourage faculty with nightime lab sections to set aside lecture time for those students to at least take a look at the Sun. -TEH
