The TMO desktop was randomly powering off. George (AAVSO) and Zach couldn't find a software related issue. It was not responsive. We ordered a new one and replaced it. TMO's desktop powered back on!
+/12/25 : Jon and Zach changed the behavior of the Dome (thru ACP -> Preferences -> Dome Control -> Select Dome). Now the slit will only operate in the parked position. If you attempt to close the dome, it will first slew to part then close. This was done to prevent a potential (albeit low probability) critical failure from occurring due to the discovered behavior of the shutter error in the 100-105 azimuthal range).
+/10/25 : removed belt wheel on motor (15 teeth) and replaced set screws with actual #8-32 set screws. Not positive about these as they are hard to turn once they go all the way in, but hopefully OK. Pushed that wheel all the way in to better align with worm wheel, now both farther in then they used to be (to try to match set screw hole on worm wheel, but note that set screws on motor wheel are now no longer on flat section of motor shaft, which is less good).
+Cleaned the USB connectors for dome and weather station at the Icron in the dome.
+/9/25 : after report of continued trailing, removed both timing belt wheels. Put wheel on worm further in to try to get set screw to line up with hole on shaft, and attempted to move motor wheel in to match (with some issues due to interfering screw heads).
+/9/25 : lowered block with shutter limit switches so that they trigger at all azimuths.
+/28/25: Jon replaced the drive belt. Tenatively, this seems to have improved the 'trail' / 'bounce' issue. The belt is Dayton 1DHJ1 Synchronous Drive Belt. Belt Width: 0.37", Pitch Length: 15". Industry Part# 150SL037. +May 2025: In March, the wheel that was replaced in May 2024 broke again. This was figured by loud noises and stops when the slit was over the wheel. Jon and Zach lifted up the dome using a car jack, removed the wheel, and determined that the bracket was wrapped and the core of the issue. We found https://www.mcmaster.com/2457T47/ which are commercially available which fits our specifications (4 inch wheel dia, 5 inch mount highet, 1-1/2 inch width).
+We ordered 2 wheels (link below in May 2024's post) and 2 brackets (+1 spare of each). F&S wielded the new brackets in place, we chose to put both on, on either side of the old bracket. Dome seems to function better now.
+/14/2024: One of the SSP TAs called Zach about a shutter error and being unable to close the dome. Zach logged in and found the dome open with a wire obviously hanging from the dome. The motor chain had bunched up, causing the cable to come off of the pulley system.
+/5/2024: At 4:20am Zach found "Dome / Shutter Error" after SSP started the ACP scheduler. Dome slit was roughly in the north. Zach was able to get ACP going again and it took images and flats then closed up. Since this is an error that was a precursor to one of the caster wheels having to be replaced, Zach went up to TMO. Rotating the dome clockwise and counterclockwise produced some creeking noise, but nothing alarming. Zach oiled the wheels. Dome was able to rotate without issue. Zach asked Adam and Jesse to have the TA report any occurrence of a dome / shutter issue to Zach in order for this issue to be monitored.
+/28/2024: Since power was restored on 6/20, the ADT security console next to the front door was beeping due to "low battery" / "no connection" and was prompting "enter ID number to silence alarm". Jon found this code which is **011118**
+/19/2024: Around 7pm we lost power to the building due to high sustained winds. Additionally, those winds were strong enough to completely remove the sign from the building. On 6/20/2024 Zach contacted NMSU's facility services. They worked with El Paso Electric to restore power to the building (El Paso Electric is in direct control of TMO's power, not NMSU). On 6/21/2024, Zach meet with the structural shop to remove the sign from the building and discuss a replacement. Once Jon, Jason, and Zach discuss, we need to call David back.

 /3/2024: Replaced [[https://www.grainger.com/product/Caster-Wheel-4-in-Wheel-Dia-55KC34?opr=PDPDAM&analytics=msubItems_1G450&position=1|caster wheel]] that is just south of due east. We have an extra spare caster wheel in the tool box in the dome. Also, an old car jack in that tool box as well. Note, we suspect this is the one that was replaced 6 years ago on 4/30/2018. Also note, this wheel looks slightly different than the others. We should regularly check this wheel to ensure it has a tight connection.
