ACTION ITEMS/UPDATES
- F&C (i.e. P&T) Document update (Chris)
- Faculty APRs, distribution coming soon, due mid to end of October
- Update on staff hires
- Faculty hire, Search Committee, need external member, need to get job ad out soon: Nancy, James, Jason, Chris training. AAS posting by November 1, run it through December.
- Possible future faculty hires: develop strategy and priority list. All faculty who will be here, Jon should join in discussion.
- Reminder: mid-term grades are required for 100 and 200-level courses. Dean takes this seriously. U/S is fine
- Fall commencement, who can attend, who is up to attend?
- Planning for Giving Tuesday, improve description of a few our the funds listed on our webpages, focus on Tombaugh fund?
- Who is attending AAS? Need someone regarding our graduate student recruitment effort, need to sign up for a table by October.
- Summer Teaching, do we want to request any course(s)?
- Other updates from recent DH meetings
- Course rotation in next year, and instructor for new Astr 405/505
- Outreach event to Arrowhead Park Early College High School, 3 blocks of time on one day. (Degree plans and Career options).
TEACHING and MENTORING ITEMS
- General Education revisions: 9-credits that NMSU allocates still not formally decided upon. No new information yet, Dean is not fan of the 1st yr seminars, would rather see another requirement for science or social science course added. Discuss with James: how to provide input to the Faculty Senate process and outcome.
- General Education course recertification, to be coordinated with the Branches (subcommittee?)
- Undergraduate issues: better integration of minor degree students.
RESEARCH ITEMS
