-       Faculty goals document (ŇAllocation of EffortÓ) due this week. Send to Rene, copy to Jon.

-       Faculty APRs, will distribute instructions soon, due date: DeanŐs office Nov 16, so our internal date will be October 29, since I will not be here Nov 12-16. Documents will be uploaded to dropbox to DeanŐs office.

-       Staff hires and new staff

-       Faculty hire, establish Search Committee

-       Possible future faculty hires: develop strategy and priority list

-       Teaching schedule for Spring 2019, due very soon:

Agree on course assignments, then create schedule.

Block schedules for MWF classes, who wants/wants not to teach 75 min MW blocks?

(university intent is likely for MWF courses to go to MW blocks)

Effect on lab scheduling?

-       Reminder: mid-term grades are required for 100 and 200-level courses. Dean takes this seriously

-       Reminder of open house schedule, see mail Tom, June 7, 2018

-       Friday party, cards, ideas for gifts?

TEACHING and MENTORING ITEMS

-       General Education revisions: 9-credits that NMSU allocates still not formally decided upon.

Our opportunity: a 3-credit intro course, and the 1st year seminar.

Three skills all science gen ed courses must address: Critical Thinking, Personal and Social Responsibility, and Quantitative Reasoning.

TA allocation under new GenEd possibly a concern, is on DeanŐs radar.

Do we want to be part of the PILOT certification effort?
