And on March 29th, 1807, in Germany, Heinrich Olbers found planet Vesta...

Something was obviously amiss.
By 1851, 15 new "planets" discovered between Mars and Jupiter!
It wasn't until 1854 they began to be recognized as the "Minor Planets" with their own nomenclature.
