From Elmegreen, et al. 1997 |
- If we re-run our previous virial temperature calculation with 108 Msolar and a radius of 1000 pc, we can now withstand temperatures 10 times as high, thereby marginalizing O stars.- We can also increase our density to increase star formation efficiency even more (and therefore decrease radius, as there are only two free parameters). - Star formation may then proceed on much longer timescales, allowing us to create many, many more stars in an equivalent volume. |
