Studying the lunar phases
You will be presented with a series of sets of five questions covering material related to the lunar phases. For each question, you'll have access to a link (i) taking you to a short lecture slide, to review the context of the material. (Some of these slides will be directly relevant to the problem you are solving, while others will encourage you to think in general terms about how you are solving the problem.)
You'll also have a friendly hint button (?), to get you started if you are unsure how to approach the problem. These hints are very useful in solving the problems and will make your task much easier – make use of them!
The lecture slides and hints will appear in a separate browser window from your set of questions.
Once you answer each question and submit your work, you'll receive feedback on every problem and complete solutions, so that you can check your work and learn from your mistakes. Please read carefully through each set of solutions before attempting new problems. You may also return to the tutorial at any time to review concepts and figures shown there. (You should have five browser windows available to you, for the tutorial, the examples, a glossary of keywords, these questions, and the associated hints or lecture slides.)
We expect your knowledge to broaden as you gain experience with the questions. It is natural to take some time and to experience some uncertainty while working through the initial problems in order to better understand how to visualize the movements of the Moon and the Earth.
