The Spring 2011 seminar series will be led by Nancy Chanover, and will focus on the Planetary Science Decadal Survey that is currently underway through the National Academy of Sciences.
The class will review a subset of the 120+ white papers submitted to the survey board. Two white papers will be presented by two different students at each class, and then the class as a whole will review those white papers and provide a ranking. Aside from the goals of expanding our horizons concerning the current outstanding questions and future priorities for planetary science, students will gain experience in serving on a mock review panel and will have the usual practice at giving oral presentations.
A planned program for the seminar series can be found here. Public presentations will be held weekly on most Mondays at 3:55pm, in the Astronomy Conference Room (room #119). Interested parties are welcome to attend.
