Getting to Las Cruces
NMSU is located in Las Cruces, NM. If you are flying in, you should land in El Paso, Texas and drive (about 55 minutes) up to Las Cruces. Albuquerque, to the north, is more than three hours away by car.
The hourly shuttle service between ELP and Las Cruces can be reserved by calling (800)288.1784, and will take you to your hotel; request the NMSU rate. If you have made a reservation, keep alert at the airport and do not let the driver leave the airport without you!
Driving from El Paso (or, in general, the south)
- MAP: El Paso airport to TransMountain road
- Once out of the airport, take a right onto Airway Blvd.
- At the first light, take a right onto Airport Rd., which will curve to the left and become Fred Wilson Rd.
- Take a right onto Hwy 54 when you reach it.
- Take 54 several miles to Transmountain Rd, and take a left.
- MAP: El Paso to Las Cruces via I-10
- Take Transmountain Rd over the Franklin mountains until you hit I-10.
- Take I-10 north about 30 miles into Las Cruces.

Driving from Tucson (or, in general, the west)
- MAP: Entering Las Cruces
- From I-10, take the Main St. exit. Turn right onto University Ave.
- Finding the Holiday Inn
- The Holiday Inn is located on University Ave., right in front of you as you exit the freeway.
- Finding the Comfort Suites and the Sleep Inn
- Drive up University Ave. for ten blocks.
- Turn left on Triviz Dr. (just before University Ave. crosses I-25).
- The Comfort Suites and the Sleep Inn are just around the corner.
- Finding the Astronomy Department
- Turn right at the second light onto Espina St., and enter the NMSU campus.
- Turn left at the second stop sign, onto Stewart St.
- Turn left at the second stop sign, onto Williams St.
- The Astronomy building will be the second building on the left.
- One can park in the lot next to the building without a permit on weekends or after 4:30pm on weekdays, or on weekdays all day with a visitor's permit. There are short-term parking meters just across the street.
- Finding the Corbett Center
- Turn right at the light after 3/4 of a mile onto Jordan St, and enter the NMSU campus.
- Proceed two blocks.
- Jordan St. will dead-end into a parking lot, and the Corbett Center will be immediately adjacent to the parking lot. There are short-term parking meters in the lot.
Driving from Albuquerque (or, in general, the north)
- MAP: Entering Las Cruces
- Take I-25 into Las Cruces, and exit at University Ave, turning left
and crossing over I-25 to head west (away from the Organ Mountains).
- Finding the Holiday Inn
- Drive down University Ave. for roughly nine blocks.
- Drive through the El Paseo St. intersection.
- Drive past the Green House nursery.
- The Holiday Inn will appear soon on your right.
- Finding the Comfort Suites and the Sleep Inn
- Turn right at the first light onto Triviz Dr.
- The Comfort Suites and the Sleep Inn are just around the corner.
