Research » Extragalactic Group

Extragalactic topics include large scale structure, galaxy structure, formation and evolution, stellar populations, and the ISM in galaxies. There are several primary research groups, with considerable overlap and cross-talk between them.

  • ISM in galaxies. In particular, there is considerable expertise on the warm interstellar medium, and interactions of stars with the ISM.
  • Stellar populations in galaxies.
  • Galactic structure.
  • Quasar Absorption Lines
  • Distant galaxies, and field and cluster galaxy evolution.
  • Galaxy formation.
  • Large scale structure.
