P.E.R.M.A.N.E.N.T. Catagory: Public; Rating: 5
An acroymn and logo standing for Projects to Employ Resources of the Moon and Asteroids Near Earth in the Near Term. It is a beautiful and colorful page with a 14 section outline detailing the intricacies of the P.E.R.M.A.N.E.N.T. team vision. A complete guide to this group's mission to use space resources, easy to locate information including a website searchSpace Settlement Catagory: Public; Rating: 5
This site is for fans of space science fiction and people with interest in space colonization. A great page for space settlement enthusiasts. A page full of pictures illustrating the advantages of an artificial, closed-ecology habitat in the free orbit, complete with links to author Mike Comb's science-fiction stories and articles dealing with the space settlement concept. There is also a substantial amount of links to other similar themed websites and an index.Space Frontier Foundation Rating: 5
The main idea of this website is to present data, news and information on the space program, and to keep people informed of new advances that are helping people in their quest to colonize space. Their mission statement reads, " The foundation is an organization of people dedicated to opening the space frontier to human settlement as soon as possible." The graphics, layout and information contained within the website are excellent.Island One Rating: 5
A site which contains a lot of information which is easily accessible and well organized. There are few graphic located here, but there is not really a need for them; it seems like a great site. It has a similar intent as the first one (Space Studies Institute); they were both founded on the same idea.Space Studies Institute Rating: 5
The main idea of SSI is the development of tools and techniques to harvest space resources. This site contains average graphics and is simple to use. It contains a large amount of information that is well organized.Apollo Society Catagory: Public (education); Rating: 4
An educational and scientific research organization dedicated to advancing space explorations and human communities beyond Earth. Members can get involved in the Delphi project (to define, design and establish a permanent, self-sustaining community, "Delphi," on Earth's Moon), Educational Programs (in addition to lecture series, scholarships, etc., provides web services, including an online magazine), and a membership program. Few graphics, page filled with links revolving around the society's programs, information is usefulOrbital Space Settlements Catagory: Public; Rating: 3
This main idea of this website is to outline the goals of NASA's Human Exploration and Development of Space Enterprise (HEDS) program. The website is run by a group within NASA. The site is fairly well laid out (good info), but is void of any catchy graphics.Distant Star Catagory: Public; Rating: 3
An interest magazine to supplement an interest in space colonization. The Living Universe Foundation's biannual electronic magazine dedicated to human colonization of the galaxy. It includes the table of contents to the latest issues and complete texts.Living Universe Foundation Rating: 2
This is the site for the Millennial project; an idea about relocation into space. This site has a small amount of graphics and is not user friendly. It seems to contain a good bit of information, but it doesn't seem to have much substance or organization.Mars and Think Quest Rating: 2
This site may be interesting, I wouldn't know. I was unable to fully access it. In order to access this site you must first download certain programs and go through a tutorial. It may be informative and interesting, if it was accessible. (At least the tutorial gets you interested-- very well planned out)The Space Network Rating: 1
The purpose of this site is to "provide a comprehensive outlook at the future of space exploration as well as to educate the world of what an impact the space program will have on our children and grandchildren." The website has a catchy home page, but not much more. The rest of the site seems to be under construction and any links that do work seem to be directed towards selling you something. Not very scientific (in our opinion)!
