Group 1: read and write 1-page synopsis of Chapters 1 & 6 Group 2: read and write 1-page synopsis of Chapters 2 & 7 Group 3: read and write 1-page synopsis of Chapters 3 & 8 Group 4: read and write 1-page synopsis of Chapters 4 & 9 Group 5: read and write 1-page synopsis of Chapters 5 & 10 Make 17 copies of each chapter report to be handed out. Each group will give a 6-minute (yes, 6-minute sharp) presentation (with audio/visual aids) on each Chapter, in chapter order. This will take an 1 hour if everyone sticks to their time allotment. Each group formulate 4 questions for the video-con interview with Dr. Robert Zubrin (Mar 2). Email the questions to CWC and Group 3 by Sunday night (Feb 25). Group 3 will edit the questions and have them available for CWC review by Monday night (Feb 26). They will be emailed to Dr. Zubrin Tuesday (earlyish). DUE: Feb 25 (Sunday evening- not late). 1. Read the January 2001 National Geographic Story "Body in Space, Surviving the Odyssey", by Michael Long. 2. Read "Weightlessness and the Human Body", by Ronald White (use the on-line Scientific American article, that you can link to from the Mar 16 entries. Each Group will write a one-page report on each section as follows (be dure to follow the links and study them): Group 1: Feeling Gravities Pull Group 2: Space Sniffles Group 3: Form Follows Function Group 4: Heavy breathing, radiation Group 5: Down to Earth DUE: Mar 16, papers due at begining of class. Email plain text only verions to cwc prior to class. 3. Each Group wll read part of the on-line text book "Human Physiology in Space", by Barbara Lujan and Ronald White. This can be accessed on the March 16 entries next to Pawelczyk. Each Group will pick one of Focus 1-7, but no two groups may choose the same Focus. I will explain in class. Each group will make a 5 minute presenation of the highlights of this focus, including audio/visual support. Cwc will present one as well.
