Reading Material and Assignments

1. Software: Moon Tycoon 

   Purchase this software immediately.  Each student will build a
   simulates Moon Colony and present it to the class at a date later
   in the semester to be determined.

2. Book: The Millenial Project (by Marshall T. Savage)

   Purchase this book immediately.  It is out of print and has limited
   availability.  Each student will give 20 minute (PowerPoint)
   presentation to the class for one of the major steps in the
   project.  These will be scheduled at a date later in the semester
   to be determined.

3. Book: Red Mars (by Kim Stanley Robinson)

   Purchase this book immediately.  The paperback is $7.50 new from
   amazon.com .  This book will be discussed at random points
   throughout the term.  Your first assignment is 100 pages to be
   read by January 20.

4. Articles: Ad Astra Magazine, The Roadmap to Space

   In preparation of Pat Dasch's visit to Penn State we will discuss
   the National Space Society's Roadmap to Space.  Read the January -
   February 2001 issue.   The only availability of this material is
   on reserve in the Science library (Davey Lab, 2nd floor) . Also
