ASTR 500
ASTRONOMICAL SPECTRA
Graduate Seminar
Friday 12:30-1:20, Astr 119Graduate Seminar meets once per week. Students present 15 minute talks focused on a certain class of astronomical spectra (of their choosing). All student talks are available for download (PDF format). Each talk is supposed to focus on four key points: (1) Background/Motivation, a bit of history, etc., (2) Spectra, including key absorption/emission and continuum features, (3) Physical diagnostics from the spectra, and/or physical interpretation of diagnostics, (4) discussion of multi-wavelength knowledge, current knowledge in the field, and future prospects. All presentations are PDF converted from PPT. Animations are lost in the conversion.
