EXAM 4 RESULTS
Exam grades are posted on Blackboard and you should now be able to see your grade. Here is a table and plot of the Statistics and Distribution.

FINAL EXAM IS WEDNESDAY MAY 9 AT 10:20-12:30

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: for those who scored a 90% or higher on all four midterm exams, you may OPT OUT of the FINAL EXAM. To choose this option you must: (1) send me an email that you are chosing to opt out of the Final. (2) agree to the terms of this option, which are that your FINAL EXAM score will be the average of your four midterm grades. If you do not send me this email, then you must attend the FINAL EXAM or you will recieve a ZERO on the FINAL, and this could drop your letter grade by 2 whole letters! I WILL NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, PROVIDE EXCEPTIONS TO THIS CONDITION.

EXAM 4: May 2
Here is the Review Sheet.

25-Apr12
TEST 4 MOVED Test 4 will now be held on Wednesday, May 2. I have updated the lecture schedule web page to reflect the new scehdule. The graded exam will be handed back and the correct answers discussed in class on Friday, May 4. We will now skip the Cosmology section that was going to be lectured during the last week of the semester.

INSTRUCTOR AND TA EVALUATIONS: EXTRA CREDIT FOR FILLING THEM OUT. See instructions. You get 5 points EC for filling out the Instructor Evaulation and 5 points EC for filling out the TA evaluation. Note: on the instruction the time of opportunity to do this is given- be sure to do it during this time period, which ends Monday May 7 at 7:55 am. We will be able to track WHO filled them out, but we will not be able to read them. And then, when we do get to read them, your name will not be attached to your evaluation, so they are truly anonymous.

WOW- CHECK THIS OUT
NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day has posted an interactive Flash Animation that allows you to browse the scale of the universe from the Planck scale (the size of quantum "foam") to the outer edge of the universe! See the sizes of photons compared to atoms, and your DNA. See the relative sizes of planets, stars, and nebulae. Enjoy!

ON-LINE BOOK
You can access the summaries and definitions of terms, etc. on line for free at the following web page: Brooks Cole: Foundations of Astronomy On-Line. I have not thoroughly researched all you can do, but it looks very good.

EXAMPLE BULLETIN
Watch this space for updates, scehdule changes (hopefully never!), and exam announcements, and grades.

LINK TO THE LAB MANUAL:: http://astronomy.nmsu.edu/astro/Ast110fall11.pdf

Per discussions in class; you are strongly encourage to purchase the lab manual from Kinkos as soon as possible ($40). Another option is that you can download the Lab Manual to your computer and save it. Then, for each week, check which lab assignment you will be doing (before Lab Section meets! - you can see the schedule here) and print one or two copies of that specific lab assignment to take to the Lab Class with you. It may not be that for everyone it is cost effective to print out the manual pages on your own.
