You do NOT need a Scantron. You will write directly on the exam. Please review exam day policy on the syllabus.
RECOMMENDED STUDY PHILOSOPHY
If you are struggling with the amount and content of the lecture material, I suggest a minimum of 4-6 hours of review. If you have been staying up to speed, and if you have been staying up with the daily lectures, PPT Lecture Slides, and Lecture Outlines, you can probably get by with about 2 hours for a thorough review. Either Way, here are my recommendations:
TO START: (ahead of time) Gather your Lecture Outlines, and the PPT Lecture Notes together and order the reviews and PPT notes in order of the lectures. Find a quiet, peaceful place, to study and plan out three 2 hour blocks of time during hours when you are intellectually sharp (not 2am!). When you study, get your self very comfortable and isolated.
PLAN: You should review the material in two stages. Stage 1 should be a overview of ALL lecture material. In this stage, do not concentrate on details of the information. This stage is a single overview, to be sure you are simply familiar with all of the material. Do not go over it in detail, but do not skip any of it either. This stage should take about 1-2 hours. As you got though Stage 1, jot down which material you feel insecure about so that you can revisit it for focused study during Stage 2. You might highlight the section on the Reading assignment, so that you know what pages to review, and highlight the Lecture Outlines where you feel you need to go back an study it in some detail. Before advancing to Stage 2, take a break, or wait until your second planned study period.
STAGE 1: In lecture order, one lecture at a time, (1) read the Lecture Outline while simultaneously thumbing through the relevant part of the PPT Lecture Slides (2) Study the Chapter Summaries of the free on-line text book for this same lecture. Be sure to spend a little additional time examining the Figures in the Lecture Notes. (3) Study the Chapter Summary. As you go through this Lecture, identify material you feel insecure about so that you can revisit it for focused study during Stage 2. (4) Step to the next Lecture and repeat until you have reviewed all six lectures.
STAGE 2: Topic by topic, go back and really study the material that you identified for detailed study from Stage 1. During this stage, you may find it useful to make flashcards of key bits of information for later quick review to keep the material fresh. I suggest that you break this stage in two two parts at a minimum so as to not become intellectually saturated. It is better to study in multiple 1 hour blocks, for example, than in one long 4 hour block. Success is 90% time management. Treat your mind in an organized fashion, and it will pull through for you.
