Check your overall class score

Letter grades are not provided because your letter grade in this class will be determined by the overall distribution of points at the end of the semester. However, you can see where you fall within that distribution at this time. Recall that your lowest midterm exam score of the four will be dropped in the computation of your total points in the class. In my grading system, those students near the class average usually end up with a grade in the low "B" range. The average is 61 and the std dev is 17. According to the curve I usually apply, for this exam score distribution, I would roughly give letter grades as 45.0-69.9 is a "C", 60-75 is a "B", and 75 and above is an "A". But as I said, those letter grades mean very little at this time. So, do NOT think that because you have a 60 that you get a "D" or that below 60 is an "F". That is not the case for this course.

NOTE ABOUT NOT HAVING TO TAKE THE FINAL EXAM. Given the distribution of grades, I am relaxing the stated cut off of 90 and above for candidacy to opt out of the FINAL EXAM. For this exam, if you have an 85 or above, your are eligible for the opt out so far. Congratulations to those four students!
