We have performed a series of dark matter only and gasdynamical simulations to study the formation of galaxy clusters and groups. I will discuss the properties of strong lensing clusters as well as of bullet clusters in the MareNostrum Universe, a 2 billion particle SPH cosmological simulation. I will also discuss how unique the Local Group is in the environment of the Local Universe.
