Research

Current

I am a graduate student at New Mexico State University working on my PhD in Astronomy.
I am an observational astronomer interested in galaxies, AGN, spectroscopy, and instrumentation.
I am currently working with Dr. Moire Prescott, studying low redshift Lyman alpha nebulae.

Past

I completed my MS in Physics with a Concentration in Astronomy at San Francisco State University in 2019.
My advisor was Dr. Ron Marzke and my thesis was on the comissioning of a LHIRES III spectrograph for the Leuschner 30-inch telescope.

Undergraduate

I completed my BS in Physics with a Concentration in Astrophysics at San Francisco State University in 2017. My minor was Music.
I worked on research on the dynamics of exoplanetary systems with Dr. Stephen Kane, as a member of the Planetary Research Laboratory at San Francisco State University.

About Me

Activism

I'm passionate about diversity and inclusivity in STEM, especially in astronomy and physics.
I am active in New Mexico State University's Inclusive Astronomy group.
I was a founding member of the Women in Physics and Astronomy Club at San Francisco State Universtiy. Our group was able to start with funding from the American Physical Society Women in Physics Group Grants.

Personal History

Before transferring to my degree granting institution, I attended Chabot College, a community college in Hayward, CA.
I worked with Scott Hildreth to create planetarium programs for use in Astronomy 10 (Introduction to Astronomy: The Solar System) and 20 (Introduction to Astonomy: Stars and The Universe), and to create public planetarium shows.
I was a tutor at Chabot College for students enrolled in Astronomy courses, and students enrolled in Music Theory courses.

I have also been a math and physics tutor for students at the 6th to 12th grade level. While attending San Francisco State Unviersity as an undergraduate, I worked for San Francisco Unified School District in the Advancement Via Individual Determination program. I also worked for College Track, a non-profit after school tutoring service serving the youth in San Francisco.

Other Stuff

I play the violin. I was a violinist in the San Francisco State University Symphony Orchestra from 2014 to 2019.
I love spicy food.
I enjoy drawing.
